Pentland Poultry is situated in Upper Gills in Caithness. I have been kepping chickens and ducks for as long as I can remember but it has only been the last 6 years I have been breeding and showing what i like to think as show quality stock. I keep both large and bantam hens as well as a variety of ducks.
I have had lots of help from other poultry enthusiasts which is half the battle of getting to know the rights and wrongs of poultry keeping. I am very grateful for. I try to only use stock that I feel is the finest type of it’s type. George Mackenzie has been a great help, he was the person who oppend my eyes to see what a great hobby, breeding poultry for showing and comersial use can be.
My favourite breed is the bantam Black Australorp. A couple of years ago Geordie gave me some Aussie eggs and I had great sucsess hatching them in my octagon 20 incubator. Once I had sold some poultry at the dingwall sale. I invested in a new R-Com 50 Pro incubator which I have been hatching with ever since. My poultry has slowly been improving ever since.
